IPB Colloquium by Maarten Boonekamp
The IPB colloquium will be held on Monday, 20 November 2017 at 12:00 in the “Zvonko Marić” lecture hall of the Institute of Physics Belgrade. The talk entitled
"Electroweak symmetry breaking up to the LHC"
will be given by Dr. Maarten Boonekamp (DSM/IRFU - Institut de Recherches sur les Lois Fondamentales de l’Univers; CEA Saclay - Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives, Gif-sur-Yvette, France).
Abstract of the talk:
Among the most precise predictions of the Standard Model is the relation between the masses of the Higgs boson, of the top quark and of the electroweak gauge bosons, the Z and the W. After a brief introduction, in this talk we will review the slow but steady progress in testing this prediction, summarizing the results of the SppS, LEP, Tevatron and LHC experiments from a historical perspective.
