SCL Seminar by Milan Radonjic

On June 13, 2014, at 13:00, in the library of the Institute of Physics Belgrade, Milan Radonjic (Photonics CenterInstitute of Physics Belgrade) presents a seminar talk entitled:

"Electromagnetically induced coherent effects in rubidium atoms"

Abstract: Complex multilevel structure of rubidium atoms enables the study of various coherent effects due to interaction with laser light. Focus of the first part of the talk will be on the influence of laser beam intensity profile on line-shapes of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) resonances. EIT resonances are examined in Hanle configuration in rubidium vapor vacuum cell. Excellent agreement between experimental results and the detailed numerical modeling will be presented. In addition, the underlying physical mechanisms responsible for specific line-shapes will be revealed. The second part of the talk will deal with Stark-chirped rapid adiabatic passage (SCRAP) among degenerate-level manifolds. The extension of the theory of SCRAP in two- and three-level systems to the case of two and three degenerate-level manifolds with arbitrary number of substates will be given. This formalism will be applied to the adiabatic passage among two and three hyperfine levels in the rubidium atom.
