As a part of the Work Package 7 activities of the first implementation phase of the PRACE Initiative SCL's Vladimir Slavnic participated in the Workshop on Visualization of Large Scientific Data that was held on 14 and 15 June 2011 in Bologna, Italy.

Focus of this two day workshop organized by CINECA Supercomputing Centre was on tools and new techniques for the visualization of large datasets produced by scientific simulations running on HPC systems.

In particular, workshop included the following topics:

• Introduction to scientific and remote visualization
• High-performance visualization tools and libraries
• Advanced techniques for in-situ visualization

Main visualization tools that were investigated during this event were ParaView and VisIt. As a invited speaker Vladimir Slavnic gave an overview of the main features of the VisIt visualization application.
