SCL's Vladimir Slavnic at DEISA/PRACE School
Vladimir Slavnic, member of Scientific Computing Laboratory, participated in Spring School: "Tools and Techniques for Extreme Scalability", training event co-organized by EPCC (The Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre) and ICHEC (Irish Centre for High-End Computing) as a joint activity of DEISA (Distributed European Infrastructure for Supercomputing Applications) and PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe) projects. Event was held on 29 – 31 March 2011 in Edinburgh, Scotland and it was hosted by EPCC.
During the three days, school covered various topics, mostly in parallel sessions: Using the Cray XE6, GPU Programming with CUDA, Advanced XE6 Libraries, Parallel Programming with Coarray Fortran, The Scalasca Performance Analysis Toolset, High Performance Parallel Programming with Unified Parallel C, and Hybrid MPI/OpenMP Programming.
Participants had an opportunity to try all mentioned tools and techniques in practice on the UK's national supercomputer, HECToR, which is the largest Cray XE6 system in Europe.
