Vladimir Slavnic at PRACE Training Week
SCL's Vladimir Slavnic participated in the PRACE Training week in Barcelona, an event held from 6 to 9 September 2010 and organized by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) as a part of PRACE-1IP project training activities. The main goal of this event was to carry out hands-on training on the use of high performance computing tools developed at BSC, Paraver and Dimemas, which aim to enable detailed analysis of the performance of parallel applications.
After initial introduction to the interface and usage patterns of both tools, each trainee had an opportunity to perform analysis of parallel program of his/her choice. In this phase, PRACE supercomputing centers Marenostrum, Jugene and Huygens were used by participants for obtaining traces of their codes. Trace manipulation techniques were presented and analyses were performed using the Paraver tool.
In following sessions, by using Dimemas simulator, further useful information were obtained from the same traces in an artificial, simulated environment.
