Ivana Vidanovic visits Berlin and Potsdam
SCL's Ivana Vidanovic visited Free University of Berlin and Potsdam University from 6 to 19 December 2009, as a part of research activities within the PI-BEC bilateral project. During her two-week visit to the group of Dr. Axel Pelster, she continued joint work on applying Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approximation to the description of Bose-Einstein condensates. Both cases with and without interaction were studied, and several analytical and numerical approaches were considered, including the use of Gross-Pitaevskii equation or Thomas-Fermi approximation for the ground state, and semiclassical approximation or exact quantum mechanical procedure for the treatment of thermal states.
This visit was supported by the PI-BEC project, as well as by the research project OI141035 of the Serbian Ministry of Science and Technological Development and EU Centre of Excellence Grant CX-CMCS.
