SCL researcher visits JKU Linz
SCL's Antun Balaz visited research group of Prof. Eckhard Krotscheck at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria on 7 September 2009. During the visit possible collaboration was discussed with Dr. Krotscheck and his collaborators, Dr. Robert Zillich and Dr. Stefan Janecek. The discussion has focused on recently developed higher-order imaginary time propagation method for solving the Schroedinger equation (developed by the Linz group in collaboration with Prof. Siu Chin from Texas A&M University) and its relation to the higher-order effective-action approach (developed by SCL group in collaboration with Dr. Axel Pelster from Free University of Berlin and University of Duisburg-Essen).
After the talk entitled "Properties of Quantum Systems via Numerical Diagonalization of the Evolution Operator", A. Balaz also presented recent development of effective actions for time-dependent potentials and planned with his hosts the application of this approach, as well as its Path Integral Monte Carlo implementation. The follow-up visits of Linz group members to SCL were alse discussed.
