A. Pelster visits SCL
Dr. Axel Pelster (Free University of Berlin and University of Duisburg-Essen) visited SCL from 17 to 21 August 2009 as a part of research activities of the PI-BEC bilateral project. The main goal of the visit was work on the first paper dealing with the application of the effective-action approach to ideal Bose-Einstein condensates and comparison of numerical and semiclassical results.
Axel Pelster and his SCL host Antun Balaz also discussed future research activities, focusing on development of effective actions for time-dependent potentials and their application for solving the Gross-Pitaevskii equation and its generalizations. The work on applying Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approximation for the study of Bose-Einstein condensates was also discussed with SCL's Ivana Vidanovic who presented her latest numerical results. More details will be presented at the 2009 Arnold Sommerfeld Summer School in Munich.
