As a part of testing and assessment of possible hardware platforms for the future Blue Danube National Supercomputing and Data Storage Facility, and in collaboration with IBM Serbia, a demo hardware machine was delivered to SCL by a business partner BTR. The demo machine consists of a Blade Center chassis with two Intel-based, two P6-based and two Cell-based Blades. The hardware is now installed in SCL, and in the process of optimization for the local use.

In parallel, SCL staff continues porting of several scientific applications to the Cell architecture.
